Walmart Gives $5 Gift Cards Following Overcharge in Alabama

Walmart has launched an initiative to apologize to customers in Alabama who were overcharged due to a sales tax system error across all its stores in the state.
On September 1st, a new law went into effect, reducing the state grocery tax from 4% to 3%. However, Walmart mistakenly charged both the old and new tax rates at all its Alabama locations.
To address this oversight, the company is offering $5 gift cards to all customers who made purchases on that day.
Affected individuals need to present a purchase receipt from September 1st at any Walmart customer service desk to receive the card.
This gesture also extends to Sam’s Club stores, where customers will receive $5 in Sam’s Cash, directly deposited into their member accounts.
Customers have until September 18th to claim their gift card.
