A New Florida bill proposed to ban access to abortion after six weeks of pregnancy

Members of the Republican Party of Florida promoted a bill to prohibit access to abortion after six weeks of gestation, instead of the 15 weeks currently in effect.

The measure was introduced on March 7, and seeks to reduce the number of weeks pregnant women need to have an abortion.

SB 300 will only make exceptions if the person seeking an abortion is a “Victim of rape or incest, subject to conditions.”

In addition, among the new restrictions is that medications to be used for abortion must be prescribed in person by a physician, which would prohibit access to or shipment of abortifacient medications through the postal service.
