Miami will have one of the colder Christmas Days in 27 years

A persistent northwest wind along with lingering clouds can result in this day being extremely cold since 1995. For our ranking, we acknowledge the lowest recorded high temperatures at Miami International Airport for the purposes of this ranking.

In 1983, it only climbed to 51 degrees. Both 1989 and 1995 saw temperatures remaining below 60 degrees, with 59 degrees being the high for Sunday, December 25.

As of 2020, the coldest Christmas Day evening on record was 49 degrees. This year, inclement northwest wind and clouds will maintain constantly cool temperatures, with showers in the forecast for the rest of the week. Temperatures could stay in the mid to high-40s on Christmas Day.

How to prepare for winter

As the temperature drops and snow begins to fall, it’s important to be prepared for winter weather. Winter can bring cold temperatures, icy roads, and harsh winds. To make sure you’re ready for the colder months ahead, there are a few things to consider.

First, start by checking your heating system and making sure it is in good condition. It would also be wise to have some extra blankets on hand in case of an emergency or power outage. Make sure your windows are properly sealed so cold air doesn’t enter through any cracks or gaps. Consider investing in insulation if you haven’t already done so; it will help keep your home warm even when temperatures drop below freezing.
