United States says goodbye to Qatar 2022 and Netherlands advances to the Quarterfinals

United States fought, pushed, searched everywhere, but the Netherlands was too much of a piece and with a score of 3-1 they qualified for the Quarterfinals of the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Louis Van Gaal’s team, from the dressing room, had decided to cede the initiative to the United States, who had the ball but ran into a wall every time they tried to cross into the last quarter of the field.

At speed and with quick touches it was how the Clockwork Orange attacked and that’s how the first goal came, combining, giving a chair of collective play. Memphis Depay was in charge of closing the clamp with a first intention shot at 9 minutes.

The second goal was a decal and it reached 45′, when everyone was already thinking about the break, except Daley Blind who at first intention took a ‘shotgun’ impossible for goalkeeper Turner.

In the complementary part, Team USA improved, tightened and found its reward at 75′, when Haji Wright almost accidentally finished off a corner kick with his heel and sent the ball to the back of the goal.

But the hope lasted only 5 minutes for the American team because at 80′ Denzel Dumfries found himself alone to close a cross at the far post and send it to the back of the net without any problem.

The series was defined, the Netherlands will be in the Quarterfinals and the United States says goodbye, but not without leaving a pleasant taste in the mouth and laying solid foundations for the 2026 World Cup, in which they will be local.
